LitVM LiteForge Testnet: Configuration, RPC, and Setup Guide
Connect to the LitVM LiteForge testnet using verified RPC endpoints, Chain ID 4441, and Caldera infrastructure.
Updated
The LiteForge testnet is the public test network for LitVM, Litecoin's first EVM rollup. It operates with Chain ID 4441, uses Shanghai EVM compatibility, and requires zkLTC as its native gas token. LiteForge is an experimental testnet, and LitVM mainnet has not launched.
LitVM is designed as a hybrid rollup rather than a pure zkRollup. It uses Arbitrum Nitro for optimistic execution and immediate transaction confirmations, combined with Succinct SP1 zkVM validity proofs to establish finality in minutes. Infrastructure operations for the LiteForge testnet—including RPC nodes, block explorers, and faucets—are hosted via Caldera.
Network Connection Parameters
Developers and users can connect any standard EVM-compatible wallet (such as MetaMask) or development environment (such as Hardhat, Foundry, ethers.js, or viem) to LiteForge using the following configuration parameters:
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Network Name | LitVM LiteForge |
| Chain ID | 4441 |
| Currency Symbol | zkLTC |
| EVM Version | Shanghai |
| HTTPS RPC URL | https://liteforge.rpc.caldera.xyz/http |
| WebSocket (WSS) URL | wss://liteforge.rpc.caldera.xyz/ws |
| Block Explorer URL | https://liteforge.explorer.caldera.xyz |
| Faucet URL | https://liteforge.hub.caldera.xyz |
Adding LiteForge to Web3 Wallets
To interact with LiteForge in a browser wallet, configure a custom network manually using the verified parameters above:
- Open your wallet settings and select the option to add a custom network or RPC.
- Enter LitVM LiteForge as the network name.
- Enter
https://liteforge.rpc.caldera.xyz/httpas the RPC URL. - Enter
4441as the Chain ID. - Set the currency symbol to
zkLTC. - Add
https://liteforge.explorer.caldera.xyzas the block explorer URL. - Save the network and switch your active connection to LitVM LiteForge.
Because LitVM is fully EVM-equivalent, smart contracts compiled for standard Ethereum environments deploy without modifications. Developers also have access to native Arbitrum precompiles and ArbSys functions on the testnet.
Acquiring Testnet Gas: zkLTC Faucet
Gas fees on the LiteForge testnet are denominated exclusively in zkLTC. In production, zkLTC is backed 1:1 by LTC locked on the Litecoin mainchain via the BitcoinOS Grail bridge, tracking supply elastically. On the LiteForge testnet, testnet zkLTC can be obtained directly through the Caldera faucet interface:
- Faucet Address:
https://liteforge.hub.caldera.xyz
To request testnet funds, navigate to the hub URL, enter your wallet address, and complete the distribution request.
Faucet Rate Limits and Connection Rules
The Caldera faucet enforces automated rate limits to prevent automated abuse and resource exhaustion. Notably, the faucet actively rate-limits and blocks requests originating from known VPNs and proxy services. If a distribution request fails or times out, ensure you are disconnected from any commercial VPN or proxy before trying again.
LiteForge Network Performance and Activity
LiteForge has been live since April 2026. As of 15 August 2026, the testnet has recorded the following verified operational metrics:
- Total Blocks: 40.5M
- Total Transactions: 237.1M
- Unique Wallets: 13.1M
- Average Block Time: 161ms
Batches on LitVM can handle up to 10,000 transactions per rollup block, leveraging parallel proof generation in SP1 and calldata compression to maintain low operational overhead and sub-cent fees.
Architecture and Security Warnings
When developing or testing on LiteForge, users must keep several structural and ecosystem distinctions in mind:
- Hybrid Execution and Settlement: LitVM combines optimistic execution via Arbitrum Nitro with Succinct SP1 zkVM validity proofs. In Phase 1 of its rollout, settlements occur on Ethereum while sequencing is handled by the Espresso permissionless shared sequencer. In later phases, settlement anchors to and eventually migrates canonically to Litecoin.
- Testnet Status: LiteForge is strictly a testing environment. State resets, upgrades, and testing variations can occur prior to mainnet launch.
- $LITVM Token Warning: The governance and utility token, $LITVM, does not exist as a tradeable asset. The token generation event (TGE) is scheduled to follow the testnet phase, with mainnet launching after the TGE and comprehensive third-party security audits. Any asset trading on decentralized or centralized exchanges claiming to be $LITVM is fraudulent.
- Educational Resources: The independent learning platform litvm-academy.pro provides a seven-module community-built curriculum for developers. This platform is not affiliated with LitVM, Lunar Digital Assets, or the Litecoin Foundation.
Questions
What is the RPC URL and Chain ID for the LiteForge testnet?
The HTTPS RPC URL for LiteForge is https://liteforge.rpc.caldera.xyz/http, the WebSocket endpoint is wss://liteforge.rpc.caldera.xyz/ws, and the Chain ID is 4441.
Why is the LiteForge faucet rejecting my claim request?
The Caldera faucet at https://liteforge.hub.caldera.xyz actively rate-limits and restricts traffic from VPNs and proxy networks. If your request is rejected, disconnect from your VPN or proxy and retry.
What token is used to pay for gas on LiteForge?
LiteForge uses zkLTC as its native gas token. On the testnet, zkLTC can be claimed from the Caldera faucet, while on mainnet it represents LTC bridged 1:1 via the BitcoinOS Grail bridge.
Is LitVM mainnet live or is $LITVM available to buy?
No. LiteForge is a testnet, and LitVM mainnet has not launched. $LITVM does not exist as a tradeable asset, and any token currently claiming to be $LITVM is fraudulent.
